Contributed by admin on Aug 08, 2020 - 07:21 PM

As you may have surmised, this author is particularly interested in the progress of the MageiaLinux platform as one that is particularly easy to install and to maintain with a group of very well-dedicated developers as well as very supportive community.

As we move toward the final support date of MageiaLinux7, this week, the Mageia group releases the first beta release of Mageia8. You may be interested in downloading the ISO that may suit you and help out with the testing of the platform. Be warned that this is still in Beta release and that it should not be installed on a production desktop/laptop as of yet. Happy testing!

"We are happy to announce the release of Mageia 8 Beta 1. After the good feedback from Alpha 1, there have been some improvements and fixes for this release, we look forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts so that we can continue to get Mageia 8 ready for release. " ...

LibrePlanet 2020: In-person Component Canceled - Online is Available for FREE

"by Zoe Kooyman — Published on Mar 09, 2020 05:27 PM

It is with deep sadness that we are canceling all of the in-person events associated with LibrePlanet 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and our corresponding concern for the safety of this community. This includes the conference sessions on March 14 and 15, and all Free Software Foundation (FSF)-organized social events on March 13, 14, and 15.

However, just because we won't be holding a conference in person this year doesn't mean that we've given up our fight to "free the future." Instead, LibrePlanet will be a fully free (as in freedom) virtual conference and livestream. We had an extremely exciting program planned, and we're going to try and maintain as much of that schedule as possible with all of the speakers who are willing and able to participate remotely. The resulting livestream will be run on and entirely accessible via free software, so that you can enjoy these amazing talks from the comfort of your home." ...

Just in case you have missed it, the latest version 6 of Mageia was been released July 16. This release is the newest in the long line of Mageia releases since its appearance in September 2010.
